The 31-year-old recently signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until at least June 2012.

“As soon as the player understood that Milan strongly wanted him [to stay] and he could still give a lot to this shirt, to these fans and these colours, he decided not to leave the Diavoli and in addition to reduce his wages.
“Gattuso will end his career at Milan and will now enter the club of immortals.”
