Aberdeen to offer Aluko new deal

Reports have suggested that McGhee could decide to let the 21-year-old go, following a recent bust-up between the two.

McGhee said: “I’ve spoken to Sone about a contract extension as he has a huge part to play in my plans.

“He will definitely be here next season and I’m hoping he will be with us for a good while after that as well.

“He is one of the most talented players in the SPL and I have no problems with him on a personal level.

“I’ve been saying for weeks that our campaign would have turned out a lot different if he had stayed fit.

“He would be a first pick for most managers in this league because he is such an exceptional talent.

“He can create havoc in defences with his ability to take the ball forward at pace.

“He is a match winner and I am delighted his contract ensures he will be with us next season at the very least.

“He still isn’t back to full fitness. It’s been frustrating for him because he knows more than anyone that he is capable of doing a lot better than he has in recent games.”
