Rangers keen for Naismith to sign new deal

Naismith has 18 months left on his current contract with the Scottish giants.

“I’ve had a few discussions with him and his representatives,” said Rangers chief executive Martin Bain.

“He’s a great boy, and he’s come in to the team and done exceptionally well. He’s a young lad we would hope to hold on to for a number of years to come.”

Naismith joined Rangers in a £1.9million deal from Kilmarnock in the 2007 summer transfer window.

“Steven has indicated his willingness to sign an extension to his contract,” said Bain.

“It would be the right thing for the club to extend his contract, and he’s very deserving of it.

“Hopefully, I’ll be able to move forward with that and try to agree a contract with him.”
