The Under-21 international has been strongly linked with a move to AC Milan.
“It’s true that Milan are strongly counting on him, but not in the immediate future,” Ghirardi told Sky Sport 24.
“For now I’m just anxiously awaiting his return to the field of play [after injury],” he added.
“We’ve only been able to use him for a year and a half of the three years that he has been here with us.”
