Tampere were the only side to have made a deal with a marketing firm, Exclusive Sport PTE, which clubs in the league were expressly warned off using.
Because of alleged influence from the company in the club’s choice of players, the league has expelled them.
Lasse Lehtinen, chairman of the Finnish Football League, said: “We from the league warned them with a letter in December and January. Tampere United was not the only team approached by this firm, but the other teams backed off after our warning.”
