The winger will be available for the clash with Rangers on Saturday, but will undergo hernia surgery next week.
Jefferies said: “He’s had a stomach strain and needs a hernia operation.
“We had hoped he might get it done at the end of the season but it’s just got gradually worse.
“He’ll be available for the game at the weekend but on Tuesday he’ll get it done so he can be fit for next season.
“It is a short break this year and he definitely needs a pre-season because he’s missed the last couple due to injury.”
