Berhalter has signed a two-year contract with an one-year option with the Swedish side.
Berhalter told the club’s official site: “Most importantly, we want to put a team on the field that is ready to win games.
“I am a fair coach and someone you can talk to, but I demand professionalism and hard work, and I will lead by example.”
Los Angeles Galaxy owners AEG holds a 49 percent stake of Hammarby.
