Arnason rejected a new contract back in January and Aberdeen manager Craig Brown has stated that he will be planning for next season without the midfielder.
But Arnason is still hoping that he can reach an agreement over a new deal with Aberdeen.
“I would love to stay because Aberdeen is a great city, I love the people and it’s a brilliant club,” said Arnason in the Daily Record.
“But I am nearly 30 and this could be my last contract so I have to think of a lot of factors.
“The fact I lost so much money at Plymouth came into it as well. I’d love to continue playing until I am 38 but you never know with injuries. Just look at the weekend and what happened with Fraser Fyvie. So I would hope we can get a mutual agreement.”
