Italy coach Marcello Lippi reportedly wanted Nesta to be a part of his squad for the World Cup finals in South Africa this summer.
But Lippi has revealed that the 33-year-old did not want to make a comeback for Italy.
“He told me, I think definitively, that he doesn’t feel it,” said Lippi.
“I’m sorry. I wanted to give a boost (to the team), but I respect his decision.”
