Ambrosini has replaced Paolo Maldini, who retired at the end of last season.
“I am touched and proud of this. I would like to thank Galliani and Leonardo for their nice words,” confessed Ambrosini.
“This is an important achievement. I feel very lucky to have the Captain’s armband of this glorious club following on from a legend such as Paolo.
“Regarding my contract, we are negotiating and we are not far from an agreement although we haven’t had many chances to meet up.”
