The 34-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season.
“Without a doubt I want to stay – you still want to be involved,” said Barmby.
“I still feel fine, I’ve just got to keep fit. At the end of the day you get paid to play and be fit and around the place.
“I have got no problem with that, but I love it here and I want to play as long as I can here.”
