Davies said: “The stories about Nico keep coming as usual.
“But, in the summer, he said he was happy here, so let’s hope he still is.
“He is important for us and we really hope he will stay. But we will have to wait and see when the window is open.
“We’re going to lose El Hadji Diouf as well for the African Nations Cup so that would be two big players gone.
“The manager feels he has players who can step in and do jobs but it would be a big loss for us.
“January will be important for us. We don’t know what the new manager is planning but he’ll have his ideas.”
