The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but has been offered a new deal by Toon manager Joe Kinnear.
“My feelings are that I would like to stay at the club until the end of my career now and hopefully we can sort that out, the sooner the better really,” he told the Daily Mail.
“As soon as the contract is OK for me and the club, I am happy to sign.”
