The new deal will keep the Northern Ireland defender at the club until the summer of 2011.
Motherwell manager Craig Brown told his club’s official website: “I’m delighted.
“Crags, along with other experienced guys like Las (Keith Lasley) and (Stevie) Hammell, is hugely influential and the fact the he is remaining with us for at least another year is a massive bonus.
“I don’t expect this will be the last contract he will sign with Motherwell either as he has proven that he is still very capable of playing at the very top level for a long time yet.”
