The new deal will keep the 29-year-old at the club until 2011.
Ehret joined Cologne from Swiss side FC Aarau in June 2006.
“I am feeling at home at Cologne and want to add my share to the future success of the club,” he said.
“I am happy I had been a regular for this outfit last season and would like to further impress the club with my abilities.”
