Elmander failed to impress under former manager Gary Megson after joining the club in a £10million deal.
But The Sweden striker has impressed following Bolton’s appointment of Coyle in January.
Elmander said: “I’m really enjoying playing under this manager, it’s great. He’s allowing me to play my game and not trying to change me.
“I’m feeling really positive about playing in this team – it’s fun to play my football at the moment.
“Every year is big and I always try to do my best. I have one year left, so we’ll see what’s going to happen.”
He added: “I don’t want to talk about what’s happened before at the club, I just enjoy the way we play now.
“We keep the ball more on the ground and I’m allowed to get the ball down and play my game, the connection is better between Kevin Davies and me.
“I felt good against United, the only thing missing was the goal. Hopefully I’ll score against West Brom instead.”
