The new deal will keep the 21-year-old at the Scottish side until the summer of 2016.
Hanlon said: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal. I love playing for Hibernian, it is a privilege and something that I will never take for granted.”
“I’ve supported the club all my life and been with Hibernian since I was 14, so being given the honour of captaining the team recently has been a massive honour,” he added.
“I’ve always enjoyed my time with the club, I feel settled here and now I want to help Hibernian achieve something special.”
