Italy to name new boss in May

Several candidates has been linked with the job as Marcello Lippi is expected to quit at the end of the World Cup Finals in South Africa this summer.

“We will decide the future of Lippi before the tournament starts,” said Abete.

“We already took the decision to inform the media and the fans in May who will be in charge of La Nazionale for the first friendly after the World Cup, which will be on August 11, and for the Euro qualifiers.

“It is impossible at this stage to say who will be because we are focused elsewhere. Our relationship with Lippi is good. It is not true that I got angry with him.

“Taking part in the Press conference with him today shows that there are good feelings between us.”
