The 29-year-old insists he was not prepared to accept a pay cut to extend his stay with Hearts.
“I don’t think I am going to Hearts again,” he told the Daily Record.
“The team wants to bring their budget down so they asked me to bring my wages down.
“But I told them that is not possible so I have to leave.
“I have a couple of options so I am waiting for the best one.”
