The Galaxy have now no chance of reaching the MLS Cup Playoffs this season.
Donovan said: “It’s tough. We were hopeful that we would have been more competitive tonight, under the circumstances, but things didn’t go our way.
“We didn’t compete well in the first part of the game. In the second half of the game, we needed to have some bounces go our way that didn’t go our way, and that was it.”
