Wigan are close to signing the 22-year-old in a £800,000 deal, but Grayson has now made a move, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Leeds have reportedly made a £1million with add-ons bid for McArthur.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Leeds are going for back-to-back promotions and, if they make it back to the top flight, then obviously they are a bigger club than Wigan.”
McArthur said: “The prospect of a move really excites me. I am ready for it.”
