Man City takeover almost done

Mr Thaksin currently owns 65.78% of the club’s shares and needs 75% to take complete control. Even with another 10% however he would still have to pass the Premiership’s “fit and proper person” test and the fact that he is facing corruption charges at home in Thailand could be a problem.

Nonetheless, his choice as manager, Sven Goran Eriksson, flew into London on Tuesday evening and is expected to catch a connecting flight to Manchester.
