Under former Scotland manager George Burley there were plenty of scandals, including the famous ‘Boozegate’.
Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor were banned from international football following the ‘Boozegate’, while Rangers duo Kris Boyd and Lee McCulloch turned their backs on Scotland after falling out with Burley.
“We’ve got to learn from it,” said Fletcher. “That’s the important thing, to learn from the mistakes of the last campaign.
“Other players can learn from it as well, just by saying, ‘Well, we probably should have dealt with it differently’.
“We can only learn from that. If you try to go forward another way, it’s just going to be a hindrance.
“So let’s get behind them and back them because we all want to achieve success for Scotland.”
