McCoist admits he would walk away

Rangers were taken off the market by David Murray last week amid uncertainty surrounding their financial future and McCoist is set to become Rangers manager when Walter Smith retires next year.

“The reality is the club has been up for sale. It has been taken off the market now but that doesn’t mean to say a year down the line someone couldn’t come in with another bid,” McCoist told the Scottish News of the World

“While there’s a chance of somebody coming in, buying the club and investing in it, I have to be realistic.

“If they do that they may want to bring their own person in. That’s something I would have to accept because it’s likely to be in the best interests of the club.

“I don’t want to sound like a martyr but the club comes first in the event of someone coming in with cash.”
