McGregor is pleased with the arrival of new Rangers owner Craig Whyte.
The Scotland international said: “It was pleasing to hear the new owner wants to open talks. I hope someone has passed on my number to him.
“I only found out when he spoke to the press if he hadn’t come in I would have been flogged in the summer.
“I’ve not heard anything yet but there are more important things to worry about. We have a title to try to win.
“After that I’d be more than happy to open talks about a contract.
“For the club in general it will hopefully be a good thing that there might be fresh money available now.
“It would be good to keep most of the current squad together and try to make it even stronger by bringing new players in.”
