Melbourne Heart cools Ronaldo interest

Melbourne Heart were contacted by an agent working for Ronaldo, but are not prepared to pay around $100,000 per game for the Brazilian legend.

“If we needed a player for a few games and the money made sense, we would definitely entertain it,” Heart chief executive Scott Munn said.

“But we wouldn’t be bringing in a player to stymie the development of our young players.

“The last thing we want to do is have the young players sitting on the sidelines for someone to play one or two games.

“We would always look at a player the calibre of Ronaldo, but that’s not going to work when we’re still trying to improve as a team and focusing on working together.

“It could be a consideration at some time, but we would need a lot of things to fall into place and he would have to come at a price that made sense.

“A figure of $100,000 per game was reported and I don’t think there is an A-League team that could sustain that.”
