Naismith happy with Scotland start

Scotland failed to impress with a 2-1 win at home to Liechtenstein on Tuesday, scoring the winner in the seventh minute of stoppage-time.

Naismith said: “In general we have got a good team spirit, but nights like that just bring you that bit closer.

“We have been unlucky in previous campaigns with not getting late goals we needed.

“But this time we got one we needed. It just makes it a very good start to the campaign.

“It’s early days, but the first thing the manager wanted was a solid base and not to concede cheap goals and be hard to break down.

“We have shown that, especially in the first game against Lithuania.

“We pushed on (against Liechtenstein) and got goals so it has been a positive start and the manager definitely has all the boys behind him.”
