Both players will be out of contract at the end of the season and McCoist is keen for the duo to extend their deals.
McCoist said: “With the current climate and the situation we are in, I would have to say both Sasa Papac and Sone Aluko deserve new contracts. Of that there is no doubt.
“Sone has been a breath of fresh air. Sasa had a couple of periods out with illness, but he is so solid. He has performed very well in all of his years at the club.
“He can play a few positions – centre-back and in midfield as well as left-back. So I would say that both Sone and Sasa are two players we’re keen to hold onto.
“Of late Sasa and Lee Wallace have formed a good understanding and relationship on the left side, because both of them can play left-back or one forward.
“I think Lee in the last few games has played really well and it looks as though he is settling in now and enjoying it.”
