Rangers striker delighted with Scotland return

Rangers duo Kris Boyd and Lee McCulloch turned their backs on Scotland after falling out with former Scotland manager George Burley.

But Boyd was handed a return by new boss Craig Levein in Scotland’s 1-0 friendly win over the Czech Republic at Hampden Park on Wednesday.

“I am delighted to be back,” Boyd told Sky Sports.

“I always said I wanted to be back in a Scotland jersey and I got the chance.

“I thank the fans for the reception they gave me and hopefully I can repay them with goals that qualify us through the next campaign.

“As a footballer you have to focus on what you are doing.

“You don’t let anything around you affect you.

“It was no different tonight but it was good to get an ovation like that when I came on and I thank the fans very much.”
