The 23-year-old signing a new deal will be a huge boost to the Mariners.
“We couldn’t be happier,” said Mariners boss Lyall Gorman.
“He’s played a huge role in helping the club achieve what it has so far and we look forward to Matt having another successful two A-League campaigns with us.”
“I had my eye on Matty for quite a while and his skill level, fitness and work rate has improved out of sight since he became part of our set-up” said Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna.
“We have huge potential and Matt is certainly a big part of our future.”
“I’m now just looking forward to knuckling down and scoring some more goals,” Simon said.
“I still believe I’ve got a lot more to learn, so hopefully I can do that over the next couple of years and progress even further.
“There was a bit of thinking to do, but I think it’s the right decision in the end.”
