Brazilian newspaper O Globo reports that the Portuguese side are are keen to add the Brazilian forward to their under-performing squad.
Sporting have also been linked with Swedish forwards Emir Bajrami and Tobias Hysen.
The 26-year-old is owned by Palmeiras, but impressed on loan at Flamengo last season.
