The 22-year-old has missed Stoke’s last five games through injury and suspension and is now desperate to revive his chances of making England’s World Cup squad.
“I’ve seen a few specialists about the ankle and had an injection to get rid of the inflammation,” he told the Stoke Sentinel.
“I’ve done a bit of running on it before that, but was getting pain twisting and turning.
“I’m going to have another run on it today and then see how I get on.”
“It’s too early to say if I will be ready for Saturday,” he added.
“Also, the team has been playing really well, so it’s going to be hard to get back in anyway.
“I’ve missed the last five Stoke games and that’s been tough,” he admitted. “I’m desperate to get back.”
