Stoke star delighted with Gudjohnsen arrival

Jones also joined the Potters this summer, but his happy with more competition up front.

“The team has a different composition than it has had in the past few years and hopefully that will add something different,” he said.

“The club showed its ambition by getting in the type of players they did.

“We have a few more players with a bit more class and experience of playing for big clubs and hopefully that will be allowed to shine throughout the team.

“Eidur has played for some massive clubs and definitely has some class and I am learning off him.

“Whoever plays up front you have to be able to strike up a partnership to be able to push your club forward but the end product is we have to score goals and win games.

“It is always good to have quality within the team and having it is going to help any striker and I will be able to score some goals.

“Competition for any football club is healthy, it is only going to bring the best out of you and the team as a whole – more than anything else you would want competition.”
