The 29-year-old has revealed that he plans to hang up his boots when he turns 33.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “AC Milan will be my last team. After 33 years, I think I’ll stop. I don’t want to keep sweating blood until the end.
“This is a year of construction, because Robinho and I arrived in the summer, while Van Bommel and Cassano came in January.
“We have to win this year, but next season AC Milan can win everything.”
