Wigan manager pleased with point

The point moved the Latics up to 14th in the Premier League table.

Martinez was happy with his side’s battling performance.

He said: “In many ways it was very pleasing. It had all the ingredients you need for a good team – the effort, the attitude, the discipline, the concentration were there.

“I think the weather conditions and the state of the pitch helped the away team. It was one of those situations where you could see any set-play was going to be dangerous.

“I was extremely pleased with the concentration and responsibility we showed in those departments and then you are waiting for that break.”

He added: “We got in real good positions. We looked dangerous, we looked a threat. Charles N’Zogbia hitting the post was the clearest chance but we just needed that little break.

“Overall it was a very complete performance and I’m proud of the players. It now gives us a great platform to move on.”
