The 23-year-old suffered ankle ligament and tendon damage in training yesterday and is set to undergo surgery.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy said: “Very sadly, Andy damaged his ankle ligaments and tendon and will have to have an operation. He will be out of action for 12 weeks.
“It is a huge blow because he is a great kid and he was devastated when he heard the news after he did it in training yesterday.
“He was running through on goal and got clipped as he landed. He scored and jumped over (keeper) Wayne Hennessey and then just rocked his ankle.”
