Lennon delighted with new St Mirren deal

St Mirren have had an impressive start to the season and Lennon has recently been linked with a number of other clubs.

Lennon’s new deal will keep him in charge at St Mirren until the summer of 2014.

“It’s always flattering to hear your name being linked with jobs. That just means there are good things happening at your club. But I’m delighted with this deal,” said Lennon.

“I need to give credit to my representative Raymond Sparkes and the board for thrashing it out so quickly. My main focus is finishing the job we set out to do here.

“The objectives haven’t changed – we want to establish ourselves and break into the top six.

“I’ve always been open about saying survival is our main aim. But it can’t be the sole ambition if we want to progress.

“I also want to thank the whole backroom team – Tommy Craig, Paul Mathers, Gerry Docherty, Craig McGinlay, Alan Gray the kit-man, Andy the part-time kit-man. It’s important to thank them when I’m sitting with a contract extension.”
