Cesare Prandelli has confirmed that Thiago Motta hs been given permission to play for Italy against Germany on Wednesday.
The Brazilian played for Brazil at under 23 level but has not made it into the main national squad. As a result, he was eligible to play for Italy once he became an Italian citizen.
Prandelli said: “The permission from FIFA for Thiago being able to play for the national side arrived this morning [Monday]. I find it fantastic that players who aren’t born in this country are demanding to put on the Azzurri shirt.”
