The new deal will keep the defender at the club until 2012.
“I am delighted we have extended my contract,” he said. “HSV is a great club and I am proud to be able to play for this club.
“I am very happy in Hamburg and it is my aim to win a title with HSV in the future.”
“Joris has shown during his time with HSV that you can always rely on him,” said Hamburg’s director of sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer in a statement released by the club.
“We are looking forward to the coming years with Joris.”
