Keane has been looking to boost his defensive options after a disappointing start to their Championship season which see’s them with just 2 points from 5 games.
Reading manager Brendan Rodgers said: “Liam is in the final year of his contract and I obviously have to look beyond this season and construct a team for the future.
“Liam has been steady for us this season and hasn’t been one ounce of a problem but I have brought Shaun Cummings here at 20 years of age who can help us go forward.”
