The Portuguese international has been struggling with the problem all season and has not featured for the Blues since mid-October.
A statement from the club read: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Jose Bosingwa underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
“His recovery time will be approximately three months.”
