The Daily Mail reports that Spurs are ready to rival Real Madrid and are preparing a move for the striker.
Spurs are interested in a loan with view to a permanent deal for the former Arsenal striker.
Adebayor has previously stated that he would be keen to return to Spain, where he spent last season on loan at Real Madrid.
He said: “If Mourinho called me right now, I would catch the first plane out to Los Angeles and if I could play three or four years in Madrid and I would retire with the club. I do not want find another exit other than to return to Real Madrid.”
