El Mundo Deportivo reports that Real Madrid has shown an interest in signing the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Valero is a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy and the club are keen to bring the 27-year-old back to the Bernabeu.
Valero’s current contract at Villarreal is set to expire in the summer of 2015.
The midfielder has also been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham in recent months.
