Bristol Rovers and Port Vale are monitoring Hull City youngster Calvin Okike as they explore defensive loan options.
The 18-year-old could be allowed to gain senior experience away from the MKM Stadium.
Ontheminute.com understands that both clubs are keeping tabs on his situation ahead of the transfer deadline. Hull have not yet committed to an exit and will assess which pathway offers the most consistent playing time.
Okike can operate at full-back or in central defence. He spent part of last season on work experience with Hartlepool United, making five appearances and scoring once after finding the net just 15 seconds into his senior debut.
The Nigerian-born prospect was later named Hull’s Frank Donoghue Academy Player of the Year. He signed his first professional contract in July and has since trained and featured regularly during the club’s first-team pre-season.
Bristol Rovers and Port Vale must now convince Hull that they can provide the right competitive environment for his development.
