The club are still awaiting their first win in the Premiership since gaining promotion.
Boothroyd said: “I would have preferred three points because we have had great chances to win the game.
“We have to start taking them, but it was not to be today.
“If you are getting into those areas, then you would expect the ball to go in the back of the net in normal circumstances.
“Things do not go for you when we are where we are.
“We will all go away and think ‘how did that happen?’ But we have to just get on with it.
“We have tried to impose ourselves and have got a lot of success with it.
“There have been lots of good things, and now it is just that final bit.”
