Bruce also revealed that he has turned down the chance to be Newcastle boss one time, something that he regrets.
“The only genuine opportunity I had was after Sir Bobby left,” said Bruce.
“But I’d just signed a new deal at Birmingham and signed five or six players that summer; I felt out of loyalty to Birmingham at the time that I couldn’t go.
“Do I regret it? Yes of course.
“They were my club when I was a boy and I used to crawl under the turnstiles to watch them.
“Will I ever manage Newcastle? I don’t know. Maybe one day.
“You never know because football sends you down many paths.”
