The sides drew 2-2 in Antalya, just hours after Latvia had beaten Bolivia 2-1 in the Turkish town, another match where all the goals came from the penalty spot. That all seven goals came from penalties in the same location raised the suspicions of the Bulgarian and Estonian teams.
The Bulgarian FA’s president Borislav Mihaylov said: “It was strange to see four penalties in one game. The situation becomes even more confusing taking into account the fact that all three goals in the previous match were also scored from penalties.”
