CONCACAF presses for extra World Cup spot

CONCACAF is pressing hard for an extra World Cup spot for the 2014 competition as FIFA meet to settle allocations between federations.

FIFA is in Zurich meeting to decide how many places each continent will receive.

US delegate Chuck Blazer said: “From both a sporting and political perspective we believe we warrant the extra half-place.

“Politically, we have the number of countries to warrant it and our countries’ performances in the World Cup have demonstrated that we deserve it.”
