He said: “I’d personally open the gate for him tomorrow if he wishes to return here. I won’t pay his salary personally but I’ll certainly open the gate.”
He continued: “He came from the Academy and did great things for City. He’s a great young man.
“He has pace, good technique and is very direct.
“I didn’t take him to the World Cup because he wasn’t playing for Chelsea.
“But he’s a good player and one I very much admire.”
