Japan withdrew initially because of the earthquake and tsunami which hit the country, forcing the postponement of league games until July, when the Copa America will take place in Argentina.
Kozo Tashima, general secretary of the association, said: “The JFA decided to participate in the Copa America today.
“We are in the process of notifying CONMEBOL (South American football confederation) as we speak.”
